Meong Rice (A.ka Cat Rice or Nasi Kucing)

Guys,

Indonesia is a beautiful country. Consists of many cultural arts and traditional foods. If you first visit Indonesia, maybe you will be confused about what food should you can eat. Many “bule” (local people call Foreigners with name :bule), choose fast food or junk food restaurant near airport. Something like KF*, Mc. Donn*ld and etc, but sometimes when you arrived at Indonesia and no junk food and fast food restaurant, you can try local food and Indonesian Food.

I will share you the special food than only exist on Indonesia. It’s called Nasi Kucing, in English, i can translate it become Cat Rice. Not a rice and cat but it just a name. A name that associated with the small and amount of rice on that pack. It’s very small and tinny. Maybe you need for about three up to five pack of Cat Rice to fill up your stom. *lol

But the most unique is not about the size and amount of that rice on each pack, the situation and place are also great. Indonesian people usually use “Gerobak” as the main vehicle to pick up all the food and periperhals. And the whole restaurant usually called “Angkringan”. Which in English means hangout together and eat in the street .. (sorry if my translation is bad i don’t know exactly the Angkringan description in English). You can look at the photo i’ve taken from google. There are Price list of Cat Rice (a funny price list) and an Angkringan images.

If you have time in Indonesia, you can check it out in the street of almost in everywhere in Jakarta, Jogja, Semarang and other city. Just ask people where is the Angkringan? and you will find the great place to share and to taste the Cat Rice.

Have a good time.. and gut luck!
